My Favorite Christmas Tradition

Each year on Christmas Eve, after everyone has gone to bed, I write a letter to my bride Cyndi.

It is my favorite Christmas tradition.

In the letter I recall our experiences from the last year and then focus on where God is taking us.

At the core, it’s a love letter.

Cyndi’s faithfulness to God and to me, her goodness and her beauty amaze me.

At the end of this year’s letter, I included a poem, inspired by Psalm 23.

Cyndi suggested that I post it on my blog.

A tradition to be preserved,

In your honor, this time has been reserved.

A Poem Inspired by David’s Psalm 23

1 The Lord is our True Shepherd;

All our needs are met.

2 He gives us a roof over our heads,

and food on our shelves.

3 He strengthens us while we wait.

He promises to show us His ways,

bringing praise to His name.

4 Even when we face our worst fears, we are not afraid;

He is near.

He directs us in what to do and where to go,

and brings us back when we stray.

5 He has already prepared our paths, given us His word,

and defeated the work of our enemies forever.

The Holy Spirit gives us understanding. He brings us blessings through His refining work.

6 Surely The Lord is good. We can trust Him. His love never fails, even to the end of our days,

and we will dwell in the Lord’s house forever.
