The new iPad is really good news for Christian communicators

Apple has unveiled the third generation of its iPad tablet computer (just called iPad, not iPad 3 or iPad HD).

What can Christian communicators take away from the launch of the new iPad, that to some, in only two years, has already become an essential device for connected living?

First, the advanced technology on the iPad HD (ok, I like names) is a pretty big deal.

With its now full 1080p HD video resolution, viewing movies on the new iPad is appreciably improved.

It also sports a better camera, with a five-megapixel sensor, high-definition video recording and can use faster 4G wireless networks known by the designation LTE.

With the iPad HD, online video and the visual experience yet again takes a leap forward.

Second, this is more really good news for Christian creators, distributors, aggregators, curators, and those with plans to unite them into new digital networks and content channels.

Here are four reasons why:

1. The tools for video recording Christ-centered messages are becoming ever more affordable, smaller and accessible.

2. Viewing and sharing faith-based video content with anyone, anywhere is getting easier and easier to do.

3. Even more Christian workers, preachers and evangelists will be able to use video to reach people locally and globally with the gospel, as personal media devices become more powerful, universal and interconnected.

4. It represents an increased opportunity for broadcasters, churches and ministries to add a video component to their websites, joining the ranks of secular news, entertainment and information websites that have already done so.

A startup that I’m honored to be a part of is helping churches and religious broadcasters maximize that opportunity by making it simple to add and monetize 24/7 live streaming channels of video on any website.

enspire.tv is a new digital syndication service that integrates Bible-based video content with a scalable software platform. It simplifies the distribution and consumption of video via all devices, for any media organization and the audiences they serve.

The goal of the enspire.tv network is to build an online video pipeline between churches producing great content and Christian broadcasters in the U.S. and overseas that can help them deliver it regionally to the masses who need to see it.

Bigger things to come

The time has come,” he said. “The kingdom of God has come near. Repent and believe the Good News!” Mark 1:15

The launch of the iPad HD shows that online video broadcasting is truly on its way to becoming what many believe will be a ubiquitous and accessible form of communication.

Apple is again leading the way, demonstrating a continued commitment to their founders challenge to “think different,” to be crazy enough to think they can change the world.

Two thousand years ago, the founder of the Church issued a challenge to his disciples to think and act differently to turn the world upside down.

When millions of people are accessing the Good News on the next new iPad, or looking further down the road, when everything moves to the cloud, we believe it will be said of today’s Christian communicators, “These who have turned the world upside down have come here too.” (Acts 17:6)
